Hey everyone! The four of us would like to send out a huge thank you for the people who have read our blog so far! We are so excited to be doing this, all of these children and families we hope to help are well worth it!
Today is July 4th, Independence Day! Happy Birthday America! I was thinking today about the children that have already been brought here by their forever families. They may not understand now, but one day they may realize how much coming to this country has changed their life! Here in the USA, they will never be forgotten. Children with Down Syndrome and other special needs are given the same rights as anyone else in this country. They will be able to go to school, they will make friends, they will grow up, some will have jobs, they will have medical care, financial support, and LOVE! If they had stayed where they were, their potential would have been crushed. At the age of four, they would have been moved to an institution, where they would likely die within their first couple years. They would be tied to their cribs, surrounded by too many people, and left to die. They would never know love, never know what it is like to have a family, and any medical conditions that may come along with their extra chromosome would be left untreated.
I am so happy to say that kids are being brought home, to our free country where they will have many opportunities to show what they have to offer. They will live a life everyone should know, and they will be able to grow older than any of their friends left behind. But that is the problem here; kids are left behind. Many families have room in their hearts and in their homes to bring home a child. I am not saying it is easy, especially if it is a child with special needs. It is a big commitment! However, I think people underestimate their abilities. If God gives you the opportunity, take it! It must be his plan. If you do not think that adoption is your calling, donate to and pray for a family who thinks it is theirs. Help bring these kids home any way you can!
So today, thank God for your freedom. Say thank you to a soldier who is helping protect it, and celebrate it with friends, family and good food! Watch the fireworks light up the sky and hold your loved ones close. At some point, send up a prayer for the children that don’t know freedom. Pray that they find a family.
We thank all of you who have supported a family who is on the journey of bringing their child home! I know that they appreciate the support and prayers! I am so thankful to know a few families who hope to be watching the fireworks with their newly adopted child next year! Please keep them in your prayers as they continue down the road of adoption.
Have a great day tomorrow, and be safe with those fireworks! Enjoy the sun (if you’re getting any!), and eat some yummy food!!
