Hello everyone! I just wanted to write an update and a little more about us and what we are doing for our favorite tiny people: orphans.
As of yesterday, we have $335.35 for the Kelley family! But we are only halfway done! We are fundraising for Isaac until September!
As you know, our slogan, motto, mission statement or whatever you want to call it is "Four girls with 147million missions." This is referring to the 147million orphans in the world. We will not rest until they are all home. In other words, we won't ever stop. Awhile back, I was thinking and I thought a great continuation of our slogan would be "We don't think it will be easy, but we know it will be worth it."
It has already rung true. We have picked one of the most difficult missions in the world. People pass away. Some choose to leave their child behind, abandon them for one reason or another. However, we can make it so that the moment they call for help, someone will be there to rescue them for a life of pain and neglect. Every bit of this has already been worth it! The Kelley family is so thankful and every time I read a note from them, I remember why we stay up late to plan fundraisers, lay awake at night thinking, watch heart wrenching videos of children in mental institutions and spend hours counting change! It is a small price to pay for the love and thanks we are receiving!
We are not naive to the fact that there will be people who think this is crazy. We know that people will try to work against us, that people will try to stomp out our love for orphans, that people will say things that sting, that people will try to discourage us and ask why we would ever choose to help special needs orphans when we know that it is going to be difficult. We know people will try to tear the four of us apart and that this will not always be the walk in the park that it has been so far.
But the four of us are strong. We have committed to each other and we have all made a silent promise to work together and lean on each other when things get rough instead of walking away. We have only been a team for about a month, but we are already so close. I can't imagine how close we will be in a year....or ten. We thank God for every single one of you who has helped us kick start this mission and who have been such an encouragement to us. So far, we have gotten nothing but great feedback.
The four of us know the blessing of special needs. We know how much joy they bring, how charming they can be with their sweet smiles. We know that raising them is an added challenge at times but that it is worth it every time they giggle.
I don't think, we don't think, that this will be easy, but we know with every bit of our souls that it will be worth it!
Hugs,
Caitlin
