But, today was a special day for some of us! It was Vahnya's (Amanda and Madison's little brother) first ever birthday party! He turned four on Thursday and today we celebrated! Cake, balloons, presents, family and friends, everything!
It was a great thing to witness. This little boy has never had birthday candles or party hats, but this year, and many many many more years to come, he does. He looked like he was having fun!
But, the even more exciting thing was that the three of us that live in Portland, were able to meet the Gustafsons!!! They came up for the party and we were able to, for the first time EVER, hug the family we are working for! It was huge!
Their little Rowdy is just a sweetheart. He and Vahnya were sitting next to each other when they ate, and then when we were packing up, he gave lots of love to all of us. It reminded me personally, that this is a real family, that these are real people, that we are fighting for! Because we do so much online, it is great to have a face and a voice to put to the fundraising and everything we do.
Of course, we really missed our Genesis. It's so hard when we get the three of us together, because she is our missing piece! Florida is SO far away! And I hate that! But, I also wouldn't give up knowing Genesis for anything, even if it meant our fourth person was right next door.
Someday, the four of us will be together. That is what I focus on!
Although we are missing Genesis, we took a group picture with the Gustafsons to show you all! It was so fun getting to meet them today. I have no doubt that this was just the first of many visits to come! I look forward to seeing them again and getting to know them and their sweet boy, and then getting to meet their little Rush when she gets home!!
